EXODUS II: Continuing a Shared Legacy of Dignity and Cooperation

(directory 63rd)

The upcoming 63rd Commemoration of the 1963 March on Washington presents an opportunity not only for remembrance but for renewed dialogue grounded in shared historical partnership and forward-looking humanitarian cooperation.

Jewish communities played meaningful roles in the American Civil Rights Movement, reflecting longstanding ethical traditions emphasizing justice, compassion, and responsibility toward the vulnerable. That historic alliance helped shape democratic progress in the United States and remains an important example of constructive interfaith cooperation.

EXODUS II seeks to build upon that legacy by focusing on contemporary humanitarian challenges, particularly homelessness and social marginalization. Addressing these issues through dignity-centered approaches encourages collaboration among governments, faith communities, civic organizations, and private partners.

The initiative is intentionally non-political.

Its emphasis is on historical gratitude, humanitarian cooperation, and ethical dialogue relevant to today’s interconnected world. Israel’s experience as a nation shaped by historical memory, resilience, and innovation offers a valuable perspective in these conversations.

Participation — whether symbolic, educational, cultural, or dialogical — would be understood as a continuation of a longstanding moral partnership rather than a political alignment. Such engagement can strengthen interfaith understanding, youth education, and humanitarian cooperation across borders.

The goal is simple: to honor history while working constructively toward a future defined by dignity, compassion, and shared responsibility.

Shalom. Peace. Justice.
