Shalom Yael,
Blessings to all the children of Abraham, and to the State of Israel — the enduring Jewish homeland and nation among the family of nations.
Please find attached materials regarding the possible participation and support of the Government and People of Israel in the upcoming 63rd Commemoration of the historic 1963 Civil Rights March and Rally in Washington, D.C. — an event in which Jewish Americans, particularly many Ashkenazi Jews, played a deeply meaningful supportive role.
As we approach the landmark 250th Anniversary of the United States’ founding in 1776, a rare generational moment presents itself — an opportunity to renew and strengthen the relationship between American Africans, world Jewry, and the State of Israel. The naming of a street in Jerusalem in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. beautifully symbolizes that historic bond.
I am not aware whether others are approaching you with a similar vision for healing, restoring, and deepening cooperation between our peoples, particularly here in the United States. While I may not carry celebrity status, financial prominence, or political office, I hope the sincerity and purpose of this effort will be received on its merits.
If you are aware of individuals or initiatives pursuing similar reconciliation and cooperative efforts, I would sincerely appreciate an introduction. If not, I respectfully invite your consideration and support of what I am seeking to advance — for the good of our communities and, hopefully, for broader global understanding.
As reflected in Torah tradition, the God of Abraham often works through those who may appear small, unknown, or unlikely. It is in that humble spirit that I present this effort.
You may also feel free to connect with Shai and Maytal Abishoor of LIRM, who can speak to aspects of my credibility and intentions.
Thank you for your continued attention to this meaningful matter. I look forward to any opportunity for dialogue and cooperation.
With respect and goodwill,
Ted Hayes
